Wow, it has been an amazing couple of first weeks for me on Steemit! I’m still navigating the site, learning new things daily and bringing a bunch of good friends on board. Since I'm doing the work anyway, I figured that I may as well create a post compiling some of the information I've gathered to use as reference for myself, my friends that are new to the site and any other minnows that are trying to wrap their heads around this awesome platform. Any input or correction from Steemit veterans is also warmly welcomed.
This video by @georgedonnelly, while a bit dated (the numbers are different now), I found to be very helpful in comprehending the greater vision of the Steem community.
Understanding the three separate currencies of Steem is pretty dang important and while the video above does a pretty good job explaining, knowing real people in real life making real money off the site has given me first hand knowledge about the enormous benefit of having Steem Power.
Steem Power is a long term investment that gives you more clout on the site and more weight to your upvotes. As @alexbeyman put it in his recent article where he laments powering down he equates having Steem Power as having "a machine that prints money."
Getting as much Steem Power as you can as soon as you possible is very important as, aside from creating amazing content consistently and building reputation points, it is critical to having influence in the Steem community.
I have been actively converting my Steem and Steem Dollars into Steem Power as quickly as I can because I see the huge potential of this community and I want to grow as quickly as possible while the pond is still relatively small.
Here is a nice guide by @cryptos on how to purchase Steem Power with Steem Dollars you've earned through content creation and curation through the site.
I am so excited to move forward on this platform I’m even willing to invest some of my own money. With Steem being so low right now, it seems like a great time to buy . This tutorial by @mrslauren walks you through setting up a coinbase account and purchasing crypto with USD so you can buy Steem and Steem Power.
What they don’t tell you is that IT TAKES 7 DAYS FOR THE CRYPTO TO ARRIVE IN YOUR WALLET. So, I have to wait 7 days before I can buy Steem. This is really frustrating because I want Steem Power right now. Right now. And so should you.
