12 Things that successful bloggers do!

in writing •  8 years ago

To be honest we all secretly feel inadequate. Behind the scenes we worry if your blogs are coming up to scratch. Are they good enough? Are people really enjoying them, etc?

Writing blogs is a learning curve.

At first we have no idea how to set up a website, let alone how to prepare and write blogs. We make so many mistakes along the way. But that is way we learn. I should know. My website is always in progress. I can see even now, what changes need to be made. But it’s the adventure that I enjoy.

We all have hopes and dreams:

It’s not bad to be a dreamer. But how many of us have the courage and pluck to achieve them? We all have some inner strength(s) we can build on and use to carry us through, while trying to achieve our dreams.

If you have belief in yourself and your particular talent, it will generate passion in your bosom. Passion may seem a cheesy word to use, but it is the emotional power that drives successful people. Passion makes magic happen.

Are you scared of making mistakes?

First of all, everyone makes mistakes, so you are not the only one. But if you look back, what did you learn from them?

I noticed mistakes brought not only challenges, but new opportunities my way. Mistakes stretch you and the process makes you a professional in your own field.

So what makes good bloggers?

This is what other people and I have noticed:

1. Go getters have the courage to stick to their dreams and persist, one way or another, to achieve their goals. Your strong character and valor is what will impresses others.

2. Stop worrying about how successful other people are. Don’t compare yourself with them. It’s what you do that counts. You have talents that others don’t have. Your website has a different theme or niche anyway. That's what makes you unique. And uniqueness is what brings you a cut above others and brings people flocking to your site.

3. Have fun sharing your experiences. People want to know how you achieved things. Ten-to-one your former problems were theirs too. So they want to know how you handled them. And feel the thrill of how you met those challenges or the adventures you have out there, somewhere where they would like to be too.

4. Being different or weird isn’t a bad thing. It makes you an interesting person. You go where others fear to tread, so to speak. People feel the vibes you put out. People enjoy those with spunk, and the boldness to say what others are scared to say. Address issues from a different angle. Open minds and eyes to new concepts: subjects and info that will uplift others to greater empowerment. People want to feel that empowerment too.

5. Enthusiasm and optimism is catchy. It builds courage to go out there and do things people never thought possible.

6. Love your audience. Enjoy helping others. Having awareness of peoples’ needs, by been more observant. Look at things realistically to be more effective.

7. In spite of that, imagination is also important. It helps you see into situations, read between the lines, pull out the grit that strangely holds or binds the facts together. That, fascinating stuff that people unconsciously hunger to know. Aaah… and it helps you preserve even when you have writer’s block!

8. The ability to relate to people and understand where they are coming from! What their personalities and inner needs are. Once you know that, you are more useful to them.

9. Seeing the bigger picture: Even though you want to sell something on your website, it’s all about other people and their needs, that brings success in the long run.

10. Being entertaining and provide fascinating images. Weave interesting info into the content of your blog. Not just at the beginning but throughout. So they know if they read on, there’ll still be more to discover in the heart of the topic, even a punchline to end with.

11. And oh yes, time management: I must say I hate structured schedules. I feel they take out the spirit, leave you deflated. Rather I consider my energy levels. What time of the day and night my energy is high and when it’s low. Then fit in my activities to suit the existing situations. Frankly in my case, my activities often overlap with my housework or shopping. I get more done in the mornings when my mind is fresh. Midday I enjoy doing research. By the afternoons I’ve mellowed enough to enjoy painting illusions of reality. Because that is what art really is! And why is that? Because we can’t re-create what God so cleverly made.

12. Making statements and asking the right questions within the content of your blog. Make them open-ended, so that it makes people think about what you are proposing or talking about. It also starts a debate. Something everyone starts talking about and likely to add comments to your blog.

Talking of which: What would you add to what you think makes a good blogger?

Sorry I didn't answer straight away. I had to go away for a while, suddenly, out into the country where the wifi was bad. I'm back again and really appreciate your input. I follow all those who follow me. And now on SteemTrail as well. Thank you for the invite.

Thank you very much for this. Very good points. I would ad that interaction and engagement are also important. Like talking part in collaborations because this widens your perspective and helps you to keep on blogging.

Nuff said , Well said ;)

Nice post, thanks for sharing :)
Please check out my blog and support with a follow back. Thanks :)

This has given me much to think about and try. 😊

Your post is very informative but I would like to add another point that is missing. Successful bloggers post their content consistently. They have a schedule that they carve after a long trial and error.
