Today I went networking...

It's been a while since I have been in the networking saddle. I have been so busy creating an online presence that I actually forgot real people existed in the networking world.

Today, I found myself at a 'creative hub,' a networking meeting for as obviously stated, the creative sorts. I had managed this morning to escape from the grasp of my comfortable pyjamas, brush my hair, put on a little slap and vacate to town to network.

I didn't have my jabs for such an adventure, but it was ok. I survived.

You see I used to network a lot in previous years, but have somehow slipped into the role of a hermit, hiding behind a computer screen, just occasionally venturing into other rooms for food and other biological needs. A trip to take the bin out is normally the highlight of my week.

Ok...I may be slightly exaggerating...but only a bit.

The feeling you have when you are in the room with other creatives is very inspirational and a lot more personal. You have a captive audience that cannot switch of at the touch of a button, unlike online networking.

I will be making more of an effort to network as part of my writing campaign to not only boost my writing services, but to also help and support other aspiring writers.

This was a great event and the speaker Jim Shields, author of three guys walk into a bar was very inspirational as he spoke about the journey of creatives in business.

I think I have found my next book.
