Downvoting a post can decrease pending rewards and make it less visible. Common reasons:

    You do know that posting more than 4 times in 24 hours (or about once every six hours) diminishes the payout on the excess posts, don't you?

    This helps to reduce spam and hopefully contributes to people posting more thoughtful and well planned blog entries.
