I've got a few random tips today without a big theme, but they should still be useful to most of you.
Tip #1: Using Vellum on Windows
Some of you may wonder how to use Vellum (the leading formatting software until Atticus came around) on Windows, since it has only been available on the Mac before. Well I've got a list of tips on how to do just that here.
Tip #2: Invest in an Ergonomic Keyboard
Authors will find that a good ergonomic keyboard is essential for success, and for warding off carpal tunnel syndrome. I found a good resource on some of the best ergonomic keyboards here.
Tip #3: Get an Editorial Review
You can find niche websites in your genre that offer editorial reviews in exchange for a free copy of a book. Doing this can add to your author credibility and your book's ability to sell.
Tip #4: Find a Non-fiction Niche
If you want, you can find a specific niche that is related to your fiction and write about that in the form of a website or non-fiction books. For example, this author used the subject of mythology (especially Celtic and Arthurian mythology) as his niche, and it works out well for him.
