Wisdom and All the Pain it Entails

Yes. It has a double meaning. I'd like to keep the title that way because it is true but I want to focus more on the literal meaning.

Growing wisdom tooth is painful. We all know that. However, growing four wisdom teeth is more painful...

but

nothing beats the pain of having four impacted wisdom teeth.

I've been feeling extreme headache and throbbing pain in my upper and lower left molar for more than a week now. At first, I thought it's just a decayed tooth. I waited for a few days thinking it will just go away. It didn't go away.

Everyday, the pain bugged me and is still bugging me. I couldn't sleep, eat, or focus well. I could feel pain in my jaw, firmness in my cheeks, and I could also feel how my other teeth is being pushed.

Yesterday, I couldn't handle the pain anymore. I thought I should visit a dentist and have a tooth extraction. I just want to get this done.

So I went to Ortigas with only 500 pesos (approx 10 USD) in my hand. Thinking about the additional costs , I asked my sister @mayli to accompany me just for backup and moral support :-D

We went to a cheaper dental clinic with 600 pesos as a consultation fee. Mind you, that means I'm 100 pesos short. Upon entering the clinic, I saw the usual reclining chair and I cheered myself silently hoping that everything is well. My dentist felt something protruding in my upper left gum. She recommended me to have a panoramic x-ray in another clinic. So, off we went but it costs me another 1, 200 pesos (24 USD).

As we walked back to my dentist, even though we are not radio technologists or doctors, we can easily spot the impacted wisdom teeth.My dentist saw the x-ray and asked me to come and take a look as she explained that these impacted wisdom teeth are what make me feel uncomfortable. These can be very painful as it pushes other teeth. The upper left wisdom tooth is the most painful as you can see. It's too close to the other tooth and its root is too high.

She said that I needed surgery and not just a simple tooth extraction. She dismissed the option to extract the tooth next to the wisdom tooth for it will be permanently gone and there is no guarantee that the wisdom tooth will come out as expected. For now, pain killers will be the only one that can help me.

THE PRICE RANGE of REMOVAL OF IMPACTED TOOTH/TEETH

I inquired how much would it cost for me. My dentist said that it's 10, 000 - 20, 000 per tooth depending on the severity and what the surgeon says. She recommended a surgeon and handed his calling card.

Imagine that I have four (4) wisdom teeth to be taken out and I'll be spending approximately around 40,000 - 80, 000 pesos (800 USD - 1600 USD).

I recently withdrew my 2nd steemit payout but it's meant for work requirements, allowance for the next few weeks, and other debts I incurred because we don't have a salary for a month.

As an alternative, I asked Glenda, my workmate, if she knew someone who can refer me to a dentist who offers cheaper service. Fortunately, she has a friend who is one of the top-notchers in the dental board exam and she offer a slightly cheaper service. Each upper wisdom tooth will cost 6, 000 - 8, 000 pesos and the lower wisdom tooth will cost around 8,000 - 10, 000.

THE VALUE OF STEEMIT

My first and second payout from Steemit helped me in surviving the weeks here in the city where I don't have any financial capability to support myself.

Without it, I wouldn't be able to pay the tax fees I needed to pay which I narrated in my other post. Without it, I would be swallowed by too much overthinking on how can I survive the coming days. Without it, I wouldn't have any outlet for my writing where there are way too many people that appreciate and understand what I pour out.

The most important value that Steemit has given and showed me is to hope and continue to write and exist. That good things will come along the way.

I will continue to write pieces and I hope that my posts can be as impactful as my wisdom teeth. I will continue to write and hopefully, earn enough so I can afford to have all of my wisdom teeth out.

I've been suppressing all the stressful thoughts inside me and you made me let it all go. I will let go now, and I will let God.
