We are a lot of Foreigners on Steemit, so what if some words are spelled grong? people find it adorable!

My native language is Norwegian and I learned English from watching Eddie Murphy and Bruce Willis on Video back in the days when a Video really was a Video and we could rent one for 24 hours for 50,- NOK, which is the local currency where I am from - Norske Kroner.

The Neighboring countries to us are Russia, Finland, Sweden and Denmark - well and Iceland, far out in the ocean where only a few of us have been but many of us want to go. That is where the artist Bjørk comes from, not Bjork, that is the wrong way to spell it :).

My first name is Kjetil, yes - Kjetil. And if your native language is english, your attempt to speak my name sounds completely retarded in my ears - but I too find it very adorable that you try :)

So how do you say my name in english?

Many people have come with great suggestions on how to spell Kjetil so that it is easier for Americans to say it, and the most original I´ve seen so far is Shit-Hill :) - The Internet is wonderful right? - Saying my name is easy, it is Chetil. :)

So if you are afraid to start steeming because your english is not academicly correct, don´t worry about it. We are many many people in here who can see your diamond in the lump of coal once you dive out in it. So let me encourage you to give it your best try and never give up :)

You are awesome!

Interesting! So you are a viking?

Yes, one of the few real ones in existence.

You just mentioned my country in your post.

Pretty cool! I have a friend from Norway, who lives in Spain now. A very good friend and a positive personality, outstanding command of English too.
His daughter after her meal "behaves like a drunk viking" - that's from her mother lol.

Let's get you a role in Vikings the TV SHOW!

Who's with me?! :D

OMG i speek this way :) isnt cute ?

This is great man! I feel that you encourage me to keep going, thank you! I know that my English is not so good, but I'm keep trying and you support me many times!

@the-future Yeah man - not gonna be fun on steemit if everyone gives up! Got to keep on keeping on, downhill and uphill :)

I learned English from watching Eddie Murphy

There's no way anyone who's seen this and read that comment didn't think of this clip from Raw.

God Dag @fyrstikken! Hyggelig å treffe deg!

I like så, @busser :) Ha en fin dag!

I travel a lot and am amazed at how many people speak English and well.

But what I enjoy most is the structure of what is stated at times as sentence construction is different in different languages. When I here these variations in delivery of thought, it gives me a different outlook and thought on what was said. Really fun and enlightening.

We English speakers should all be grateful you have made the effort to communicate in English. Who knows maybe one day Steemit will even have a translator like Google... it is not perfect but it will help many in communication worldwide.

Thanks for your thoughts.

I'm Swedish and obviously not fluent in English either.. However, that haven't stopped me from being a freelancer for the past 5 years, writing articles on steemit for the last 2 months and become friends with people from foreign countries. I know that my accent is f#cked up when I'm trying to speak English, at least some people would think so, but that haven't stopped me so far. That being said, I do prefer to write instead of speak. I feel more comfortable doing that. - Nice article!

I love how Germans pronounce W as V, vice versa. I do correct people pronouncing Nowitzki as No-witz-ki where the correct one is No-vitz-ki. Same goes with Volkswagen where the correct pronounciation of it is Wolks-va-gen.

Hears tu gud speling :-) .. cheers @fyrstikken from Danmark ;-)

Yes man, we are foreigners and we like it!

Thanks for the encouragement.

I found 9/10 misspelled in my post, I tried so hard to prove my self I can be here and share my story. My mother tongue not English , I do hope people can understand what I really wanted to say . :)
Good post

Yep, it's effort and content not linguistic skills that matters to me.

Is it cute when I, as a native English speaker, don't bother to prufead ?

Excellent post and good point!

Hade Frystikken Hvordan gar det ?? ; - ) i have to say I agree with you on this, and to think anything else simply penalizes new potential blood from wherever it may originate. We must not penalize foreigners for the inability to write " correctly " English. Steemit is a global and yes, international vision of value exchange. Not an English school surely!!!

I recently watched the Norwegian film 'Headhunters' with the guy from Game of Thrones in it. That movie was had some good plot twist.

You evil foreigners!!! :P LOL.

Multi-lingual speaker (keyboarders) have nothing but respect from me. I only speak Texan. I'm somewhat familiar with Arkie and Okie and I can understand English if it's spoke slow enough. I spent a few years on Crete in the seventies and it was all Greek to me.

I don't know how you do it.

You're a valuable source of Steemit info, fyrstikken, or shall I say sheethill. Cheers!

Thank you I'm glad you're taking the time to write in english! This also reminds me; I have been thinking about how proper it seems everyone has to write on Steemit and I think it should just be relevant. If you're doing a serious post make sure it looks professional and neat. However, if it's a fun post why not be playful with your writing? Give thanks!

I suggest writing in your native language as well as English. I'd really like to see more non-English groups form to support each other. I follow one Spanish posting contributor and find that google translate works pretty well. I'd like new users to feel like they can post in any language they feel comfortable with.
