Hello steemit. The following is a work of fiction for the weekend five minute free write. Do not be alarmed or offended it is not a journal entry. It is a writing exercise with prompt from @mariannewest. You can find the prompt here.

Motivational Monday

Come on people! Look alive! Didn't any of you do what I asked of you last night?
They roll their eyes and my blood boils. I hate hearing myself say it as much as they do. If this shit show could keep rolling by means of apathy, procrastination and adolescent oculogyric responses I would cease my bitching. But it can't and it doesn't, and this is the result every Monday morning.
Pandemonium and chaos. The repeated ritual bores me to tears, it all lands on me, all the responsibility anyway, never the thanks or gratitude mind you.
They have each exited without so much as a thank you ma'am, and I'm left to try to find a surface under the aftermath of clothing and dishes and garbage piled high to the sky, that they promised a dozen times to take on their way out.

Here is a women living her passion every day... Believe it or not, that was the working title of today's blog. My life is a fucking sham. My daily gratitude posts, my tips for happy healthy family living, all a pathetic little bit of creative license design to win a few up votes and continue to delude myself regarding my own circumstance.

Why was it always impossible for you to see? That little voice inside, particularly loud today, although she generally is on Mondays.
"It's not impossible to see! I just can't stand to keep looking at it, I see it damn it, I just can't change it so why not pretend it's not there!"
I hear myself shout at no-one, breaking the buzz of silence, a sharp contrast to the screeching of the domestic war zone just moments ago. I am finally losing my mind, I knew it would happen eventually, I guess it is a valium breakfast kind of day today.

Monday's are the suckiest of days. For most people it's because it marks the beginning of a week of work obligations, interactions and commitment. Those people think they have it tough. Try facing Monday after Monday that reminds you that you are not required, another vacuumous week has passed you by and you are staring down the empty space of its repetition.

When I was a child I had imaginings. Not a particular dream or aspiration, just a platter of vague possibilities. Idealistic notions of being relevant or living a life with some degree of influence. Like everyone I secretly fantasised about stardom, but the truly hidden hope was for the satisfaction of a predictable comfort, security born of structure and perhaps just a smidgen of fab. Now I dream of a nights sleep, a close friend, a loving embrace and the dignify of a body that could perform the most basic of daily routines.

It's not fair. The words I detest most, uttered too often, once again to no-one. The voice in my head tells you to shut the hell up.
Childish words. What the hell is fair anyway, fairness was never a factor that was relevant in this world. No one ever said that fairness was part of life. Or did they? The word itself has no value, it is used perhaps as a tool to win, to allude to equity but ultimately to win which of course the byproduct of which creates a loser. Fair. What bullshit.
Speaking of bullshit, I must get on with my motivational monday post...

Sometimes, it just doesn't fit
Theoretically, it should, but there's this thing called Life that ambushes us either way
There's a duality to it
The good and bad
The beauty and ugly
And we are left to play the game
Hopefully the next prompt will get you on the side you want to be

I think that duality is essential, life is a rollercoaster and I love a rollercoaster. I enjoyed writing this, it did roll a little too freely, but it does not reflect an embedded state. I'm a fairly up beat person most of the time.

Thanks for taking the time to read and comment. 😊

Nice writeup @girbleforemirror.

It's easier for anyone to relate with your article because they are written with such originaliy and out of experience.

I hope we soon learn to make our Mondays better reputed!

Hello @girlbeforemirror, thank you for sharing this creative work! We just stopped by to say that you've been upvoted by the @creativecrypto magazine. The Creative Crypto is all about art on the blockchain and learning from creatives like you. Looking forward to crossing paths again soon. Steem on!

@girlbeforemirror,

As usual, nice write Marg.

There's an interesting insight to ponder in your missive:

Is "pathological positivity" (metaphorically your 'Motivational Mondays') any less psychologically damaging than "pathological pessimism?"

Negative emotions are every bit as important as positive ones and they are the pain signals that signify that change is required ... and the fuel that motivates us to find the resolve required to achieve it. And yet, much of modern-day pop psychology seems enamored with the "power of positivity" ... even when such positivity is clearly not warranted.

An unrelentingly wallowing in woohoo.

This sentiment is readily apparent on Steemit and prevents us from addressing obvious systemic problems that are likely fatal flaws for the blockchain. Active users dropping by 10,000 per day ... woohoo. Bidbots diminishing 25-30% of the Reward Pool ... thereby castrating the idea of compensation for quality content while crippling the critical dynamics of curation ... woohoo. STEEM's market cap dropping from the 20th to 40th amongst cryptocurrencies in a matter of months ... woohoo.

Incessant woohooing prevents people for acknowledging their problems and having the hard conversations about how to rectify them. Is this not the same as drinking or drug abuse when used for the same purpose?

Lots of things in life actually suck and trying to put a positive spin on them is not healthy. Simply, you can't Gild the Lilly or put Lipstick on a Pig. Your condition, for example, is inconducive to celebration. It is a thing to be cursed and actively hated ... not trivialized with philosophical musings.

"Love, Not Hate," as an ideological mantra, ignores the fact that lots of things should, indeed ... be hated. Sometimes fury is required ... because fury gives you the strength to fight.

Of course, anything taken to extremes becomes a negative. Aristotle reminded us that Virtue is to be found between two extremes of Vice. A great deal of happiness and fulfillment, I suspect, is little more than learning to find the balance between the two outliers.

It's OK to be angry, just don't let it become the only thing you're capable of feeling. When tickled, you still need to laugh. Laughing is important too. We're capable of doing both.
