Imagine that you could write a book.... even though you are not a writer!
Imagine that you could get paid for your book consistently... even when you never really sat down to write.
Imagine also that you were a writer. But writing suddenly became a bit easier for.
You can create more books them. Get them prooted to more people. Get more of your books sold. And of course make more money.
You imagined these things. Did you not? Right.
Now allow me to show you something fascinating!
I believe that one of the most valuable tools of credibility that you can create for yourself, your brand OR your business IS A BOOK!
Better still if it becomes a bestseller.
But the thing is... Writing is Hard!
Honestly, I too am not a big fan of writing. In fact, I hardly write on my blog!
And if you’re really honest with yourself. Unless you are already an avid writer and maybe have even been published, you probably are overwhelmed by writing a book your self.
That is why, i will show you a simple process for writing and publishing a book without EVER writing a single word.
IT IS SAID FOR A FACT that ALMOST ALL THE STUFF WE WRITE ON SOCIAL MEDIA (facebook, twitter) & EMAILS can be made into a book that other people will love to read.
My friend and mentor, Ofili wrote several books by simply compiling the posts on his blog.
You too can follow this process...
A. Know What You Want.
Something you are passionate about will make more sense. Some kind of information that could help someone.
What information is stored in your brain that you are dying to get out? Those would be good places to start.
Look out for things you have already shared and written on the topic. Your facebook posts, tweets, emails and blog posts.
B. See what other similar books have been written concerning your topic - and create a title.
Ensure that your title is essential to the market for your book.
C. Compile the resources.
blog posts. facebook posts. tweets. emails. excerpts from similar books you read. quotes.
Compile them!
If you don't think you have enough materials for this, DON'T WORRY... go over to the next step.
D. Create the chapters for your book.
Okay, this could require some form of writing.
But the point is that you’re not sitting down to ‘write’ an entire book.
IF YOU HAVE MATERIALS ALREADY, Try to create chapters that you would organise them into. (it is kinda like a powerpoint presentation),
IF YOU DO NOT HAVE MATERIALS READY, DON'T WORRY. Create chapters titles that you'd like to create. (remember, this has to be something that you have some knowledge about).
You may just need to write 10-15 chapter names related to your topic.
Don’t worry yet about the order, that’s something for YOUR EDITOR to do later.
E. Under each one of those chapter headings write key bullet points that support the chapter title and the content that should go under that title.
F. So all you have 'written' or 'typed' so far are the names of a couple of chapters and some bullet points.
Not difficult. Is it?
Now IF YOU DO NOT HAVE MATERIALS ALREADY, get out a voice recorder.
... and Hit record.
Say the title of your first chapter, then just start pouring your brain into the voice recorder. Use the bullet points you outlined to make this easier.
Do that for every chapter.
G. Get a professional to transcribe all of the voice recordings into text.
Of course, a professional transcriber will break them up by the chapter titles.
H. Once you get the transcribed recordings back.
Read through.
While reading them, make corrections where necessary.... (sorry, a little more writing).
You may also ask your close friends who have knowledge of whatever you are writing to read and give you a feedback.
... then make corrections if necessary!
I. Find an Editor.
This is one place i know you can find professional editors at an affordable price.
These editors will collaborate with you to create the final manuscript that will be published as your book.
Also, they WILL NEVER share your work with anyone. So your work is safe.
J. Next, you need to get your book cover made.
YOu can also Get HELP, or you can do it yourself using Canva.
K. After you get the final manuscript from the editor, YOU ARE READY to get it published.
L. Publish your book.
Digital publishing seems to be very common in this age.
Some of the commonest digital publishing platforms include: Kindle, iBooks etc.
Professional Formatting may be quite demanding, but if you can get done. Fine!
However, you can always Get help
As you can see, writing your own book may not really take any intensive writing at all....
So, calm down my friend, FOLLOW THIS SIMPLE PROCESS and your book will be set in not time.
