Then the Fictioneers will discuss this week’s Conflict Prompt Writing Contest: Man versus Self, which includes Woman versus Self, Gender-Neutral versus Self, and whatever you wanna describe a human character as versus self, so please don’t DM me on Discord asking if Fa’afafine versus Self counts. It does, but don’t expect me to list 250+ genders. I got shit to do.
As our coffee-talk topic, we’ll be touching on self-insertion (hehe... touching...self...insertion...have I mentioned the innuendos?) in writing. Is it acceptable? Expected? Unavoidable? How does the degree of self-insertion affect our ability to accept critique? What do you do when you spew some horrific shit onto the page and later wonder Who the hell wrote this?
Hint: It depends on whether you also find a dead body at your feet
