I personally like lore and find it immersive. That said, I believe lore shared in-game should be limited to what's relevant for the adventure.

One thing I like to do, especially for players who aren't very familiar with the campaign setting, is share more general lore out of game on our group's social page. It provides immersive context and also feeds the game between sessions!
