This is book two in the series. And it just so happens that if one finds a hat, one may need a scarf to go with it. This time Sophia shares her talents and uses her yellow scarf to spreads joy and enthusiasm throughout her town. But one day her scarf goes missing and she must answer a difficult math question to show that she is the true owner of her scarf. This story is about sharing, friendship, and forgiveness.
Forgiveness is sometimes not easy to give, but in the end is the most rewarding thing to do. It frees oneself of negative emotions and puts one in a position to focus on the good things that lay ahead. And consequently the act of forgiveness frees the person that is being forgiven as well, so both people can be free of worry, guilt, or depression. Why hang on to negative emotions? Place yourself in a position to embrace and anticipate the good that lies ahead of you, so you can make the most of the days ahead.
This is one of the concepts that I wanted Sophia to demonstrated in my story, and for Sophia the rewards were enormous as she did exactly that – forgave the injustice, shared what was special to her, and made a wonderful new friend.
To go a little further, Sophia’s Yellow Scarf is also about believing in oneself. Sophia’s talents weren’t anything out of the ordinary, but through her enthusiasm and joy, what she did with her talents became extraordinary. So even the small things in life matter, and nothing is too insignificant to lead to something spectacular, like putting a new smile on someone’s face.
