The talking drum is a part of the Yoruba culture,just in case you are lost in thought, the yoruba’s are a major ethic tribe in the southwestern part of Nigeria (iran yoruba) i.e children of Yoruba .

They are known to be jolly, merry and happy irrespective of there personal challenges,they form about 21% of the total population of Nigeria there population exceed 40million,but the total population of Nigeria is exceed 120 million making Nigeria the second most populous country in the world shocked right? Well its true.
The yoruba’s are known to be peaceful in nature are are ready to party when the need arise.A very unique attribute about this ethic tribe is there flair for music,It is always hard to find an average Yoruba man in an unhappy place as it affect there consciousness,they prefer to spend their time in places where is there is merriment.

They are the most educated off all tribes in Nigeria, this is why you will see them in strategic positions in government and private own firms.Just acquiring a bachelors degree is a piece of cake to them as they often strive to acquire more knowledge,they are also diplomatic in nature and they often try to avoid disagreements.
One Unique culture they often hold dear is the use of the ‘Talking Drum’ for ceremonies,most drummers use the drum to talk in a language they all understand,you wont understand what the talking drum is saying if your aren't a Yoruba person.
The talking Drum is shaped like an hourglass, and it is designed in such a way that it has two drum heads,the drum maker must be very crafty and talented to make a drum that brings out the right sound when a skilled drummer beats the drum with a stick,the drummer is able to modulate the sound by pressing his hand firmly on the drum surface.
The drum surface is made from the skin of animal, sun dried in the scotching sun for days to achieve maximum effect,It is a privilege to own a talking drum as friends will always come around in the evening to dance to it’s Rhythm.
