Quite a lot of Steemians are not native English speakers. I thought it would be useful to start a series where everyone could find some useful information.

This post will review nouns.

We use nouns to give something a name. It doesn't matter if that thing is concrete or abstract. We usually put nouns in two categories:

  • Common nouns.

  • Proper nouns.

We often put things into classes or groups. For example, a lake, an apple, a movie. And that's a common noun.

Whenever we name something or refer to a place, a work of art, or a specific thing, that's a proper noun. For example, Abraham Lincoln, Paris, Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind. As you see, the words are capitalized. And that's one of the signs that this is a proper noun.

I'd love to keep this as short and simple as possible. Too much information would overwhelm people. Make sure to follow the series and learn with every post.
