at Tomeka’s house

Tomeka’s drool was in a pile on her pillow when she woke up. Uh, another stupid school day she thought as she got up. The first thing she did was set up the perfect wardrobe outfit for herself. A blue shirt with striped light blue and plain sleeves looked elegant with her purple pant’s that said cool on the left pant legs side. She even had some hip party sneekers to wair.

When that was settled, she tromped down the steps to get the first of the waffles, but with eleven siblings, no such luck. “Ha ha, your late.” her brother said through a mouthful of waffle. Tomeaka gagged at the nauseating amount of syrup he had poured on his waffle.

And they were her fathers waffles! Tomeka’s dad made the best waffles in the world, so good you didn’t need syrup for it to taste sweet! And when it came to cooking their dad was amazing at it. Better than their mama!

“Uh!” Tomeka sighed loudly. All her siblings had learned the secret of getting breakfast first; either flatter their dad with cooking compliments or get up early. “Tomeka would have to work with what she had: the half burnt waffle that she could tell her father had made first since he always left the waffle maker a little to high on heat at first. Plus it was soggy from being staked upon and the butter had long melted away on this cool waffle. But Tomeka didn’t mind. She had a fundraiser to brainstorm for!

As she walked to school for with her twin brother and Willow, her younger sister, she thought to stop by mr. and ms. Olgay’s plant shop to see how the plants there were doing. She usually went there after school, but something was telling her to go there right now. “I’m gonna take the scenic route today you guys.” she told her siblings as she crossed the street to get to the plant shop.

“Okay. if you get late I’m not bailing you out.” her twin brother said, then tuned to finger gun and raise his eyebrows at a couple of school girls behind him.

As she got there, she turned and smiled as she smelled the flowers Mr. and mrs. Olgay had outside.

When she went inside the shop, she saw what she usually did, mrs. Olgay behind the register and Mr. olay spraying the plants with water. This was how it had always been: Mr. Olgay tended to the vegetables while Ms. Olgay tended to the flowers.

“Hi mr. Olgay.” Tomeka beamed.

“Hi.” he answered back with a smile “in’it a bit early for you to be out and about and not at school?”

“Oh, uh, I just came to say hi.” Tomeka said. But really she had had a feeling she should come here,

she immediately noticed that ms. Olgay was not smiling, and neither was mr. Olgay.

“What’s wrong?” She quickly asked them.

“The mayor is threatening to take down the shop.” said mrs. Olgay.

This is fine. Thought Tomeka. At least I have a cause, but how to fundraise it, I have no idea!
