Five Immutable Laws for Blogging

  1. Do not blog when you are angry. You will regret it. The same can be said when you are sad or drunk or both. News flash: people on the internet mostly do not care about your hour-to-hour temperament.

2. Always change your post topic. If you post nothing but pictures of cats, only crazy cat people will follow you, and that is not a great demographic.

3. Never post something with solely SEO or money in mind. If you don’t find what you are writing about interesting, why should other people be passionate about it? See Rule Number 2: if a post about a topic goes viral, your second, third, fourth and fifth, posts about the same topic will likely not. It will appear like you are beating a dead horse or milking a dead cow. Even more, you are devaluing your viral post by making it less special.

4. Never look at somebody else’s viral post and try to copy it because you think it will earn you lots of views and upvotes. See Rule #3. You are not being a leader; you are just a sheepish copycat. Even worse, you are being unoriginal. And, you are beating a viral post into the ground and making it less interesting.

5. Don’t write about the boring shit that encompasses your day. And I mean stuff that might sound like this: “Hey, Steemers! I mowed my lawn today: here are pictures of me riding my John Deere! Resteem if you have mowed your lawn before!” Jesus Christ, that sounds like Facebook and Tumblr and not Steemit.  To be fair, I made that up off the top of my head. I am not calling anybody on Steemit out. Still, it’s annoying behavior, and it’s very common on social media. I would hate to see that here.

Sort Order:

I found your points hilarious, especially No.5 until I read the words "Jesus Christ" used in a defammatory way. Please refrain from this practice as Jesus Christ is the Lord of many Steemians, including myself.
