Want to Get Rid of Writer's Block ? I Know How.

in writing •  7 years ago

We all have experienced the writer’s block. If you tell me you haven’t, then you are lying. Even the professional writers have gone through the writer’s block at one point. I am not a prolific writer, but I aspire to become one. Every day I write. I write a lot. Whatever the thought comes to my mind, I simply write it down in a Notebook or Laptop. Sometimes I write about my life, and sometimes I write about the book reviews. If there’s nothing to write about, I simply write on the topic about nothing. That being said, I love to write. I write so much that it has become my passion.

In this article, I have come with the points on how to get rid of writer’s block. It still works for me. I hope it does for you too. So without further ado, please give 5 minutes or less of your time and read it.

  1. Read
After piling out myself from bed, I start my day with the book in one hand and coffee in another. I love to read. I read voraciously. Mainly non-fiction. But that doesn’t mean I don’t have love towards fiction. I do read fiction too. Reading is muscle exercise for my brain. The more I read, the more I can write. I read at the expense to write more. Someone said and I quote, “If you hate reading, you hate writing.” Read as much as you can. I don’t believe if you say you have no time to read. Not wanting to read is another thing.

  2. Write in the morning
Scientific researchers have proved that our brain is active mostly in the morning. You don’t have to read first to write down your thoughts. You can do it before reading. Write in the morning and edit and publish in the evening. That’s what I always do. Write freely. Don’t edit while you are writing.

  3. Walk
I love to walk alone. It keeps me away from distractions. While walking, I listen to the podcast and motivational speech. It makes me want to do something about my life. Whenever I am not reading or writing, I go for a walk. Why walk? Walking helps us think. You can pour those thoughts in a piece of paper and write about it and post in Steemit or your blog. Don’t wait. Take a walk if you are experiencing writer’s block right now.

  4. Jot down your thoughts
We human beings are fallible, so is our mind. Our brain is naturally designed to forget. Some people are exceptional. What I am trying to prove here is that we normally have thousands of thoughts in a day. One way to remember is if you write it down those thoughts on a piece of paper or word document. You don’t have to write it all. Let me take myself for an instance. I thought about writer’s block today while walking. Immediately, I wrote it down. I knew I was gonna write about writer’s block back then and I am writing right now.

  5. Get away from distractions
Mobile phones, TV, Internet, Friends, and even Families are distractions if you want to get rid of writer’s block. If you have a habit of using a phone all the time, from now on put your phone in Airplane mode so that you can write peacefully. I don’t watch TV, I don’t use a phone, I don’t surf through Internet whenever I am writing. The last thing you want is to be distracted. You can make family as an exception and give them time.

As Steemit is all about writing, most of you have felt that you should come up with something. Some of you might also have a thought like “Why did I join the Steemit in the first place if I don’t have anything to write about?”. I can almost hear you banging your head on the keyboard. Don’t worry. If you do what I always do, I know for a fact you’ll get rid of writer’s block in no time. Keep writing.

Good Luck !!!
