With the invention of the computer, the cell phone, the typewriter...does anyone know how to write cursive anymore?
I did a little test recently to see how many of my friends would hand write me a letter now that I have moved away. I wrote 15 letters to my closest friends . Well, 2 (count it 2) of my friends wrote me back after I had sent them a handwritten letter, in cursive, on stationery that I picked out and paid for at a store that I walked into after getting out of my truck. Out of 15 friends, only 2 have written and the rest have texted. Let me correct myself...2 printed and nobody wrote back in cursive. What's up with that? I take so much pride when I write a letter that I cannot help to use great, bubbly pieces of art to spell out how much I miss somebody. I don't know if it's the artist in me but cursive letter writing should make a comeback. The next time you talk to someone you care about...take their address down and plan to write. Really practice your cursive the next time you are told to sign something. I like to line things up and make it pretty. I think cursive should come back before we lose it. Teach your kids by writing more. Get off the computer and practice with them.
I did get a letter back...a week later. It was from my mom. It was in cursive.
I cried. That is why she is the best mom.
