The Power of Perspective

in writing •  8 years ago

Often, when we look at a particular subject or matter, we tend to look at it from a particular point of view. We may not know about it, and even if we do know about it, we do not really question our perspective.

However, when it comes to interacting with others, sometimes there will be clashes of perspective. Someone may have a different point of view from you regarding the issue, and he may be right from his point of view. It is also possible for the person to just have a slightly different point of view from you, and arguments may happen. One may see a towering tree - another may see a simple shrub.

A towering tree...

... or a simple shrub?

Before we act, let us observe and try to understand the other person's point of view. A moment's rashness can sour relationships, and sometimes leave behind a life of regret, which can never be erased.

A moment's pause to consider the other person's point of view will do no harm - it may make a world of difference.

I agree with everything you wrote here! We forget too many times that the other can have his own opinion that differs from our. Sometime, as you suggest, taking a moment and try to understand the other perspective can not only help the dialogue, but allow you to actually learn something.
The problem is that not many are ready to put this blind pride away!

Thank you for sharing! Have a great day
