Today I am ready I Knew a Woman by Theodore Roethke.

Roethke was a master of imagery and rhythm. His first book was Open House (1941), and The Waking (1953) won a Pulitzer Prize in 1954. The title poem of this collection was the poem that inspired me to experiment with writing villanelles.
