National Poetry Month — April 17th

in writing •  7 years ago

Today I am reading The Fish by Elizabeth Bishop.

Bishop racked up numerous accolades throughout her career. She served as U.S. Consultant in Poetry to the Library of Congress (1949-1950), won a Pulitzer Prize for Poetry (1956) and a National Book Award (1970).

She is one of the most renowned poets of the 20th century. Her book Geography III (1977) won the Bishop the Neustadt International Prize for Literature, a prize no woman and no American had won before her.
