Pulp Prompt #2: The Pilot and the Rice Farmer’s Daughter!

in writingprompt •  7 years ago

Our hero, Jaziel, is a clumsy, subtle pilot, of ideals.

Embarking upon an enterprise in which one obligation is opposed by another obligation, he emerges from a trying ordeal with sorely garnered wisdom.

Opposing him, a small, saber-wielding agent, influenced by the occult and the mysterious (Punch Clock Villain), who meets with an experience whereby an error is corrected.

The villain's goal: Rob a Ruler.

Setting: at sea

  • A shrine to a river spirit, desecrated.
  • The lovely daughter of a rice-farmer, pursued by suitors above her station.
  • The leader of a yakuza clan, sworn to fulfill an obligation.
  • A supernatural creature, yearning to become human.

Prompt rules:

  • It's going to be weird. It's pulp! Embrace the oddity and the strange juxtapositions! Use what works. Throw out what doesn’t fit.
  • No, seriously, don't think too much about it. None of it is plausible; half of it isn't even possible. Just write!
  • Why are you still here? The deadline is on Monday! Get writing!
