Kevin Dunn is a big name backstage in WWE and also a much-criticized figure by the company's fans. The decisions are various, but Dunn is generally credited with a number of decisions that are arbitrary and go against the popular will of the fans.
There is a popular myth about Dunn's power. Supposedly, it originates from a story where Dunn's father saved WWF tapes from a burning trailer. Vince McMahon was so grateful for that gesture that he would have promised him that he and his family would always have jobs in WWE.
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio said he heard the story from the trailer and does not credit it as the origin of Dunn's power in the company. Meltzer's theory is that he was simply allowed into Vince McMahon's inner circle because he is someone McMahon can work well with.
Dunn has a lot of detractors and it looks like he will have more as time goes on. It recently came out that he was responsible for giving Billie Kay a thumbs down when she was gaining popularity, shortly before she was fired. Dunn didn't quite understand Billie's character and decided to lower her drive.
