Unlike the n8 and e7 which shipped with symbian 3 this shipped with symbian anna out of the box which changed how symbian looked and added a couple of improvements like symbian 3 symbian ana
have 3 home screens with widgets that are set into specific locations which is unlike symbian bell where you can move things around with total freedom but now you can swipe between the home
screens endlessly without having to go back and forth symbian anna also brought a totally new icon packed symbian with squirkles replacing the
old freeform icons you can now tap at the top right corner for some basic quick toggles and notifications the web browser was updated to run faster and smoother though still not ideal and it
bought portrait query to keyboard to symbian at last the x7 was also later updated to symbian bell which really helped improve symbian to much higher levels although it definitely was a bit
too late to the party symbian did have its quirks like powerful multitasking average feature set excellent audio and video compatibility and excellent navigation solutions thanks to ov maps
sadly though it just wasn't very pleasant to use on a touchscreen so let's talk about some of the issues that the x7 had it shared the same hardware internals as the n8 and e7
which meant that it was running behind the competition in terms of raw power and smoothness the x7 could have definitely benefited from more powerful hardware like what we got on the 808
pureview the web browser was still far behind the competition in terms of smoothness and usability the 8 megapixel shooter was mediocre images and it couldn't capture anything closer
than 50 centimeters the large and bright display was only 640 by 480 pixels in resolution which wasn't ideal and finally the volume rocker keys weren't very clicky so they weren't
really comfortable to use so let's conclude had the x7 launched alongside the n8 and e7 it might have been a hot seller those devices sold quite well despite their flaws but by the time the
x7 was ready to roll out it was a little too late for symbian's reputation and a premium symbian handset wasn't gonna do that well when it was also running on pretty weak
hardware for its time i still love the way the x7 looks it's one of the coolest looking touchscreen devices
from its era if only symbian was as futuristic as the design of the x7 things could have been a lot more different.
