Once again, the sun has dipped below the horizon, leaving us in darkness. Have you ever paused to ponder this daily transition? The Earth, our home, whirls at a speed of about 1,000 miles per hour, causing the day to shift into night. Depending on where you find yourself, the duration of this nightly transformation may vary.
Yet, what truly captivates the imagination are those tiny specks of light that adorn the night sky – the stars. When was the last time you gazed up at them? In bustling cities with their abundant lights, the stars often remain hidden, but their brilliance shines forth where the urban glow cannot reach, in places of profound darkness.
I, too, was once indifferent to the night sky's celestial wonders until a unique experience changed my perspective. During my involvement in the tourism industry, I embarked on a venture in Deramakot, Telupid – a remote jungle paradise filled with exotic wildlife. Our mission for that trip was to craft an tour product, including nighttime safaris for tourist.
As we ventured into the forest's depths during these nocturnal excursions, I was struck by the profound darkness, untouched by city lights. I gazed upward and beheld a breathtaking panorama of stars. It was a revelation, a reminder of the vastness of our universe. For the first time, I truly grasped the enchantment of stargazing.
Regrettably, my stay in that place was brief and my visit there was for work. I lacked the opportunity to identify constellations or to at least try to locate Polaris, the North Star, I would not be able to do so anyway due to my limited knowledge in this field and internet access was also limited to search for informations.
Nevertheless, the experience left an indelible mark on my soul, and I yearn to return to the profound darkness and explore the night sky again. Stargazing is a journey of discovery, a communion with the cosmos, and an opportunity to forge a deeper connection to the universe.
From time to time, I find myself looking up at the night sky. Unfortunately, my current location doesn't provide the ideal conditions for stargazing. However, I'm determined that someday I will make a journey to a place where the darkness is absolute, just to relive the enchantment of stargazing.
