Though the New York Yankees have caught a bit of a breath in recent weeks of MLB action, they’re still far from what’s expected of the club in 2023.
The possibility of being left out of the Major League playoffs is latent and if that happens, the departure of several players will be sentenced.
They’ve already crossed Aaron Hicks off the list, but there’s more work to be done. These are players who will not return to the Yankees if the team’s elimination from the Bronx comes to fruition in 2023.
Manager Aaron Boone has done his best to keep the Hawaiian in the group, but Kiner-Falefa’s time in New York is coming to an end. The Yankees’ hero on Saturday is turned into a super utility capable of defending the outfield as well, but his dedication and willingness won’t be enough for him to stay with the team if they are eliminated. He will be a free agent at the end of the season and it will be difficult for him to be offered to stay with a .206 average, 3 homers and 7 RBIs and Oswaldo Cabrera able to fulfill the same role for less money.
