How can we as a community raise the value of Steem?

in yes-and •  7 years ago

Is there anything we can do as a community to help build, grow, and add to the value of the Steem network? How do we as a decentralized collective work together? Have we even begun to imagine the best way for decentralized units to seamlessly work together in the creation of something much bigger than any individual unit could create?

What are we trying to achieve? And how best can we achieve it? Can we improve on what we are doing?

I have a murky picture of decentralized systems, in that these waters are uncharted. How can we effectively achieve things in a decentralized setting? How much centralization is needed? Is any needed?

So many questions... I imagine I will have a clearer picture soon.

In regards to people working together in a decentralized way. What if there was a way to overcome needing centralization when it comes to getting things done?

Instead of changing rules in the blockchain system, could we apply rules to ourselves?

In theatre, when doing Improv, one adopts a "Yes, and..." mentality. When someone gives you something, you accept it (say yes to it), and add to it.
Could this same rule be applied with blockchain projects?
Is it possible that by simply changing the human element, by adopting a "Yes, and..." mentality, that we could scale exponentially as a blockchain system?

When I first joined the Steem blockchain, it was the economics behind it that blew me away. I wanted to see similar systems adopted for real world arts performances. With the announcement of SMTs the creation of such systems seemed much easier.

I believe that SMTs are key to exponential adoption of the Steem blockchain. Lots of people don't use websites like Reddit/Steemit. A lot of people just use Facebook for advertising their events for example. I believe it is key for the development of SMTs based around real world events. The effects and pull of systems designed for real world blockchain interaction would be profound.

I live in the city of Liverpool (England) because of its arts and culture. I work within the arts scene on occasion and can see a massive potential for an SMT aimed at real live art performances. A performance based platform would exponentially increase user uptake. Imagine getting paid to see a performance? Or even paid as an actor in an amateur performance! (A lot of actors over here go into amateur productions not expecting to get paid).

So one day I came across @jacobts 'Improv Coin Coffee Talk' screenplay on Steemit. It described a similar idea, so we talked, and improvisations began.

Yesterday I posted this on Improv Coin explaining more behind it for those interested.

I don't fully know how SMTs are going to work. I would like them to be easy to create, and for there to be some basic economic templates for people to use and adapt.

In regards to Improv Coin it is being improvised with "Yes, and..." philosophy. Will these two words be enough for a fruitful project?

Or are blockchain an improvisational comedy too far removed?

Could we create an SMT to incentivize us to work together on the creation of SMTs?

What can you imagine?

I very much like the idea of SMT's and although I have been hearing about it, I just have a vague understanding of how it's going to be operational. From my understanding, SMT's will bring about more incentivised rewards, as well as steemits scalability across the world wide web. So if it can actually be used in real life events and art shows, that of course would be an awesome innovation. The blockchain is decentralized but still relies on some centralized factors for it's operation... Adopting a "yes and..." mentality will truly bring about an exponential growth because the factors will begin to work in favor of the users and investors 100%... Uncertainty will be reduced.
@dee-y over and out.

Yes and! The local Steemians have been talking about SMTs since I would say December and trying to draw a rough plan together given the information available to us is not complete. What SMT to create? Why? Real work application? How much? How?

The SMTs, business Steemit accounts, and facebook like groups will definitely mean a boon for Steemit along with the improved on-boarding functionality and capacity. The concerns us normal folks have is when? Why not now? Will these whale squabbles effect what we make?

As far as improv goes, for sure. Any live performance or art is premium content which is perfect for this platform. You will be asking yourself the same questions of how? How many? What specific application? And When?

Interested to see how it goes and here to help as you need it.

more people dealing in steem that would push the prices up i guess

@timcliff has been running a competition to get investors into Steem. Long term big money investors are what is needed.

Big money investors are good, but with SMTs we can essentially print our own big money as long as we can create and build the value in these systems. I believe long term big money ecosystems within and around the Steem blockchain is the future.

I completely agree that SMT's are the key to Steem growth. If the interface is simple, it will be a leader in this area. Bitshares has token creation, but it aint easy!

Just power it up and we all are contributing somewhere :)

together taking a bold decision i guess where a big community has to step in

We have to be patient....and waiting like this.

Nice post
