In the first quarter, e-commerce transaction volume in Yiwu reached 46 billion 500 million yuan.
Learned from the city e-commerce department, in the first quarter of this year, e-commerce transaction volume has reached 46 billion 537 million yuan, an increase of 24.67% over the same period last year. Among them, the domestic retail trade volume accounted for 26 billion 814 million yuan, an increase of 45.42% over the previous year, and the amount of cross-border network retail trade accounted for 5 billion 421 million yuan, increased by 23.68%.
Domestic e-commerce trade shows a good trend
From January to March, domestic e-commerce trade showed a good and steady growth. The volume of e-commerce transactions reached 30 billion 555 million yuan, an increase of 37.55% over the same period last year.
Specifically, the domestic retail trade got an outstanding performance, achieving a strong growth within 3 months, especially affected by the spring festival in January last year and Spring Festival Shopping Gala in January this year, in a substantial increase over last year. At the same time, the domestic e-commerce trade volume mainly focuses on retail, with domestic retail trade accounting for 88.3% of total volume in the first quarter.
From January to March, the postal and express service volume was 457 million, up by 66.07%, accounting for 4.61% in the whole country, with 436 million domestic express, up by 68.1%, 30.7% higher than the national growth rate. “Traditionally, the first half of the year is the off-season. The domestic express business volume would fall, but the cumulative growth rate of Yiwu express business reached more than 60%, indicating that the Yiwu e-commerce industry has a good momentum of development,” said the official of the city e-commerce department.
The e-commerce industry continues to develop in depth
Since the beginning of this year, the e-commerce industry has been developing in depth, and the e-commerce operators have been changing from developing in high speed to high quality. By the end of March this year, the registered e-commerce business operators have reached 90748, an increase of 46.6% over the same period. From January to March, 8640 new e-commerce operators sprang out, accounting for 46.9% of the new business entities.
At present, sellers on Yiwu platform are mainly medium and small sized sellers, with a monthly trading volume of less than 50 thousand yuan in micro e-commerce stores accounting for nearly 84%, and mainly concentrating in Taobao and online wholesale platform 1688; but it’s relatively decreased compared to the proportion of 88% in the same period in 2017, which indicates that Yiwu e-commerce sellers are gradually growing. At the same time, the size of the T-mall shop is relatively balanced, as the medium and above are steadily rising, and continue to show a slight decline in the number of sellers and a steady increase in the sales volume, indicating that the platform has gradually shifted from the contending dividend period to the superiority of the fittest, and the sellers are constantly growing bigger and stronger.
Cross border e-commerce and traditional foreign trade complement Each other
In the first quarter of this year, cross-border e-commerce trade volume amounted to 15 billion 982 million yuan, an increase of 5.73% over the same period last year. Among them, cross-border network retail trade volume amounted to 5 billion 421 million yuan, an increase of 23.68% over the same period last year. Cross border retail trade has been developing steadily and strongly, and cross border B2B presents a trend of small orders and high frequency trade purchasing. According to reports, the Alibaba international station held the carnival Shopping Festival in March, and opened an experiment in Yiwu to explore the operation mode of platform in small orders.
According to statistics, from January to March, cross-border e-commerce in Yiwu exports to 200 countries, and the top five of it are the United States, Russia, Japan, Britain and France, accounting for 22.93%, 12.63%, 12.19%, 6.92% and 4.67%, with a good complementary to the traditional form of foreign trade. From the data of the sub industry, the 5 major industries of clothing, watches and glasses, daily plastic products, ornaments, and knitted textiles are ranked in the top 5 of cross-border retail sales in Yiwu, accounting for 16.51%, 15.99%, 9.38%, 7.91% and 6.16%, respectively.
Compared with the Wish, Ali-express and other cross-border e-commerce platforms, the high value-added and high profit rate of the Amazon platform products become the first choice for Yiwu sellers to realize the transformation while continues to operate Wish and Ali-express, beginning to develop towards specialization of product categories, branding, deep cooperation with supply chains and standardization. In addition, e-commerce association, training institutions, service providers, parks and other market majorities are paying more and more attention to e-commerce activities in Yiwu, such as new policies on cross-border e-commerce, talent training, product docking of supply and demand, talent butt of supply and demand, and e-commerce intellectual property protection.
