Dhaka University student Walid Ashraf's solo hunger strike demanding " Daksu election"

University student Walid Ashraf has been on a hunger strike on the university premises since November 25 demanding the election of the Central Student Parliament (Duxu) of Dhaka University. There was no positive reaction from the University Vice-Chancellor or any stage of the authority, but the Proctor of the university questioned the identity of the students of Walid, identified the activities of the student workers coming forward in support of him as 'anarchy' and 'try to destabilize the university' Got (Prothom-alo, 4 December, 2017). This comment and the conduct of the university authorities is not surprising, but unfortunate.

In the last twenty years, six teachers have been appointed as vice-chancellors for different periods. Their political position differed, but none of them arranged for the election of the student parliament. The announcement has been delayed by the announcement; As a result, the present administration's position is not different or new, so do not be surprised.

However, it is positive that the university students are becoming accustomed to the demand, the rally was organized on their behalf. Some of the university teachers gave support and solidarity to the gathering and Walid's hunger strike; Apart from this, support signs were seen. However, a large part of the university students did not appear to be uncommunicative, because of their understanding. The University's ruling class is dominated by the students; In the past, the methods used to deal with uncomfortable protests for the rulers have been able to create fear among ordinary students. Apart from this, some people are also saying that Dakshu election is simply a matter of student politics, which is why Dussu is not being elected, hence the general students do not come. The concept of Dakshu and Student Parliament in the student's life is considered to be only political, and they are the source of this concept. But it is necessary to realize that the role of active student parliament is not just political in the present sense.

In the last 27 years, the history of Duxu (and the student halls of the university's constituencies) was not clear, the clear evidence of the failure of the university administration. Not only that the University of Dhaka University has not been elected, but now there is no elected student parliament in any government educational institution of the country. A big response to the absence of the student parliament is the end of genuine politics in the students. For the last two decades, a large part of what is known in the name of student politics is the process of distribution of various benefits to the ruling party. It can be said about the name of the main parties by changing the name of the group. This situation has taken a terrible shape in the past decade. In the case of national politics, in the same way the absence of the student parliament election has crushed the accountability system; By doing so, the students think that biriapitalization is normal.

On the other hand, the fear of 'Student' politician relationship with the ruling people, and their behavior in the name of student politics, is creating a hostile attitude towards the politics of the students. In view of the closure of the formal system of democratic politics in front of young students, the ruling party may get benefits from politicization, apparently it is correct. But such situations help in the form of such forces, who consider the democratic system as unacceptable, and are active in the application of young people. The application of extremist and violent violent politics is strong only when the path of participation in the current political activities is limited.

Many people, while speaking on behalf of the election of student elections, especially in Duxu, emphasize the political role of Dakshur leaders in the democratic movement of Bangladesh and stressed that Dakshu played a role in creating leader in the politics of Bangladesh. Although there is no way to deny that in the last 60 years, in some cases Duxur leaders have played a historic role in the history of Bangladesh politics; It must be remembered in 1968-69, 1970-71, 1982-83, Dakshusu vice president Tofail Ahmed, ASSM Abdur Rab, Akhtaruzzaman and Amanullah Aman of 1990-91. We are aware of how much they have played and played in the framework of leadership of their own party in national politics. In addition, many have been elected to the leadership position of Duxu. In many cases, Dakshu's leaders did not succeed in entering the national politics after their student life and in the leadership competition of their party. As a result, there is not much evidence that Daksusu has always led national politics.

But the demand for accountability politics in the universities and colleges, the opportunity to create communication with the general students, and the vigorous stream of enthusiasm for the politics of ordinary students is not only for the students, it is positive for overall politics. Regular election schedules are not just a day's issue, even if it's not a one-year issue too. His preparation became a matter of year throughout the year. Attempts to add relevant fields for different types of editor posts in the election panel are part of the year's work of student organizations. This also created opportunities for students to participate in politics and some of them entered politics.

In that sense Dasusu and other public educational institutions are an integral part of participatory and competitive politics in the country. From the past 27 years of Bangladesh's politics, it is clear that politics has gradually shifted from participatory systems, from the internal activities of different political parties to the national election. To break this circle, such as demanding for the establishment of participatory system in national politics, there should also be active for that system elsewhere.

The role of dakshu or student parliament is not only national politics. Students have problems in daily life, whether they are eating dining hall food or the library's progress, the pressure on the authorities to solve them, there is no way to forget that student politics. One of the main responsibilities of any student parliament is to organize such topics as literature, cultural, drama, debate, internal sports and sports competitions, to celebrate national day and to organize various types of publications including anniversaries. Notable aspects of University Day, Abhishek, Navinharan

On the basis of these arrangements in central and different students of a university, the selected students and their partners have experience of organizational leadership and working with ordinary students outside the party; They prepare them for future work in different fields. Thousands of students join the group without enthusiasm with the kind of enthusiasm that is created among the general students, on the occasion of these regular arrangements, that makes any educational institute lively. As a result, those who want to reject the demand for elections in Duxu and the student council, say that it is only for the students directly involved in politics, they are, in fact, telling about the scope of implementation of thousands of students within the known or unknowable.

An example of what kind of historical work Daksusu may be or may be associated with, is the sculpture of Bangla in front of the University of Dhaka's Kalabhana. The construction and finish of the sculpture started with the initiative of Duxur leaders. It is important to remember that the classroom is not the only place for education. Students will learn from teachers only, it is not well enough to expect them. Education from outside the classroom and activities is not less than any part of it.

I have had the opportunity to participate in three student parliamentary elections as a student of Dhaka University from 1978 to 1983. The students of Dhaka University elected me as the literary secretary of Duxur in two terms from 1979-1980 and 1982-1984. As well as the glory of these successes, the defeat of the 1980 elections also enrich me. In the Senate, we got the opportunity to perform as a student representative. During the second officiating, the student movement was launched against General Ershad's military rule, with the exception of Dakshu.

After 14 February 1983, after the general secretary of Duxur joined the army's renegade, the experience of playing an additional role in the responsibility of the literary secretary gave me the chance to see and understand the activities of the student parliament outside politically and politically. In light of that experience, these words about Dakshu and Student Parliament are called.
