Will Piper Blush Go Down In Internet Troll History?

in youtube •  6 years ago  (edited)

Hey Steemians

If you haven't noticed by now I'm a bit of a troll, partially in looks (Gosh I need a haircut) but mostly in comments. I don't take too much of what happens on the internet seriously and enjoy a good bit of banter with those I come across both online and IRL. So when I see someone trolling on levels over 9000 I have to stand up and take note. Real recognise real right?

The YouTube community is a bit like Steemit in a way if you try to pull a fast one creators will go after you and in the worst way and in yeah in an essence self-policing does work, unless you're trolling so hard as this chick.

Channels like H3H3 and Pewdiepie troll but we know they troll, we love that they troll but Piper Blush, I can't be so sure, she plays it so close to the line, it often blurs and that grey area is where my fascination comes into play.

Piper Blush

They see me trolling, they hating!

I was first turned on to her (Oops) when Ethan from H3H3 lost his shit on the jump rope video when he gets demonetized for well his bobs, and man bobs ain't as offensive as beg boobs or is that sexist? I'm not sure yet! Comment and let me know!

I checked out her channel and well you don't have to watch her content for long to realise something is up here, ah ha yeah! Nods head up and down

The content may be cringe at times but the comments from fans are cringe all the time! I would read them and at one point i'd like are they also trolling, is this a troll conspiracy, are they all in on it am I dreaming and this is only trollception? It feels like you're hopped up some sort of crazy pills! Am I the only one here that thinks this is weird? Like I'm Poppy weird?

Premise of her channel

This BDSM-loving French-Canadian vlogger launched her channel with the idea of posting daily vlogs for a year to see if it was still possible to make money on YouTube. She did come at it from a different angle describing her content as:

"You are about to enter the extraordinary life of an ordinary submissive girl." "I am a free woman expressing myself through art as a model, a vlogger, and an author."

Her content involves a spin on the same old same old, from general vlogging, tech reviews and French lessons to squeezing into tiny outfits and do various activities on camera, often in super slow motion.

All these ideas are well unoriginal at best and she should just be another me too channel in the abyss of YouTube so what makes her so different? Well, 1 was her consistency and second was one video that went viral.

Her "Sports Bra vs No Bra" skipping rope video has been watched more than eight million times in the few weeks since she uploaded it, and she followed that up with another bouncy video involving a pogo stick.

For one year she went at it daily, pushing the limits of YouTubes policies and flirted dangerously close to the edge of what should be allowed on the platform. Naturally angering plenty of YouTubers along the way.

But true to her word she called it quits on her channel last month and the internet was left scratching their heads. Why would someone call time on a 500k channel turning you a healthy profit? Would you not flog that thing until the wheels came off?

Was it just an experiment? A way to raise some money? A troll account that got out of hand?

Monetization of her social experiment

While she made have made some ad revenue here and there but as her content become racier YouTube simply became a sales channel to funnel people into her other revenue streams.

  • Amazon shopping cart
  • Patreon page
  • Paid SnapChat

Having over 500 k followers and 96,926,631 views on YouTube if only 1% of these subscribers had paid $20 per month for her exclusive content, then that will make Piper a rather wealthy young lady, about $1 200 000 for those of you who are not keen on the math and not bad for 1 years work I think.

Trolling social experiment? or not?

I am of the firm breast, I mean the belief that this girl is a knows exactly what she's doing and worked out that there is a massive market out there for this kind of thing. Since YouTube is the second biggest search engine in the world and well basically free the number of daily users looking for anything to entertain them is high. Of those numbers, there is a high % of viewers who can't get enough of bobs and veghanas eerrmah gerd Beeg BOBS!!

Don't believe me? See it for yourself!

Have at it

What do you think of internet trolls? Do you have a favourite? Have you heard of Piper Blush? What do you think is she trolling the internet or just using it as a springboard to build a brand for herself?

Holla at your boy in the comments!

Seems to me she was possibly building some kind of Brand maybe ? Not sure about the trolling.

But interesting case, regardless. To scrap it like that especially. Thanks for sharing @chekohler

That's what I thought until she quit her channel, thats why i'm leaning towards trolling

To the question in your title, my Magic 8-Ball says:

As I see it, yes

The minds of men are easily manipulated. Props to her for making a killing in her niche of the internet. Social experiments are interesting for sure, especially in her circumstance; she finished the experiment and up and quit the channel.

Thats exactly what I was thinking it just shows how many sheeple are online and how you can get to their wallets with a persona like that. I'd be very interested to see like YouTube documentry of the behind the scenes. How people reacted, how much money she made. I want to know is being smart on the internet more profitable than acting dumb on the internet, I need to know dammit.

Well I would say looking attractive and walking the tight rope of risqué and not is foolish but at the same time it’s smart on her part. She doesn’t need to do all kinds of awful things to get people to give her money so her gig is quite smart.
