YouTube was created in February 2005 by 3 former PayPal employees—Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim. Google bought the site in November 2006 and that's how it remained up to our days, operating as one of Google's subsidiaries.
Basically, what you need to know is that the only way you were able to make money with it (I mean decent money) before the apparition of the BlockChain, was to provide original Video content by uploading it on their centralized platform; and even then -- you weren't able to monetize it directly (as it should be), but rather through a few indirect ways like: infecting your channel with advertiser's ads which could annoy the hell out of your visitors/subscribers, promoting your product or affiliate offers, selling views and likes etc...
There is a small caveat to this though: in order to bring in consistent decent money, you needed first to acquire a hefty number of subscribers, views or likes -- which actually, most of the time are direct proportional and coexist together.
There were of course some unorthodox methods to get around it such as stealing other users' Videos and uploading them to your own channel with the promotion of your affiliate links, or even selling the stolen Videos, including outside of YouTube. However, this type of practice brought in most of the cases insignificant rewards and could very easily get you in trouble.
Now you might ask: "ok, and what's the problem with all that?" And believe me, I understand where you're coming from, been there.
You also might ask: "as long as am allowed to watch for free and not be requested to pay, what else in the world should I want?" Well, here is the critical point where we have to wake up and escape from the mainstream brainwashing ideology; because in fact, by doing that, it's not quite free, you pay a price -- a very high and costly price.
See, while you're watching your preferred Videos for free, YouTube in the background tracks and records all your activity and then turns around and sells it to advertisers for very good money, without sharing with you any single dime of the profit. What this does, it creates a bigger and bigger financial gap between the rich and poor classes.
Why shouldn't you get paid in a direct way just for watching and creating content on the platform, since that's the reason why this platform is making money in the first place?
Thanks to BlockChain, we were reminded that we own ourselves and we should get a share of the profit as well. It's gladdening to see that there are already designed and established CryptoCurrency integrated platforms that offer to its users this privilege, namely: dTube, dLive, bittube, viewly and others; restoring in this way the justice in our economical system.
Also, besides these, there are a number of upcoming BlockChain projects that also focus on providing users with ways to monetize their interaction with YouTube via a direct fashion; and one of them is CryptoEmail.
These are the tasks assigned at the moment:
As we move forward and CryptoEmail evolves -- much more tasks should be available for users.

Disclaimer: I disclose that I'm paid to promote CryptoEmail project which has its own ERC-20 native token called cMail. According to our agreement, I'm going to be paid 1,000,000 cMail tokens. There is no guarantee when this token is going to be listed on any market, if ever; nor, at any point, I guarantee its future price/value, if any price/value at all. However, I chose to promote it not because of the monetary incentive alone, but also because I truly believe in its product, service and vision as a whole; that being said, you should realize that my belief might be biased and you should do your own research and take actions based on your own investigation and not based on my beliefs.
