Rise of the Guardians is a fandom that means a lot to me, it's influence is a strong inspiration in my art and my creations. One of my biggest struggles has been trying to create a design of dark jack frost. It's something I've sketched out a million times but never actually finished. It was never perfect enough for me, and I was never satisfied with it. However, with the dawn of the new year, and my determination to get things done, I finally sat down and created a design I was happy with.
I kept it recognisable as Jack Frost by keeping the white hair and blue eyes, as well as some blue in his clothing to reference back to his hoody, as well as his staff and pants. I'm actually really proud of the edges of his hair, black tips hinting at the corruption he's suffering from, mimicked by the black of his eyes. I differentiated him and showed more of his alliance by giving him a mimicry of Pitch's robe, and turning his staff into a jagged bloody weapon.
The idea of dark Jack, is that he's been corrupted by Pitch Black, and I always saw it as a type of ownership, as Pitch would have more power in that relationship. I showed this by adding a collar and cuffs along his wrist and neck, his shows not only material dominance, but sexual dominance. In addition, I made the background a dark spacey red, to show not only the darkness reflected in Jack, but the sexual nature of his new form.
