The Awesomest Youtube Channels & Why It's Okay, Even Preferable, To Talk About Them On Steemit

Let's talk about some awesome Youtube channels.

Despite the various complaints people have about the platform (some criticize that recent changes to the platform have hurt Youtube content creator earnings, the platform is beginning to feel a bit dated, and, of course, the comments section continues to be a bit of a problem...) there's some good stuff on Youtube if you know where to look.

If you're into science, tech, and just cool stuff, here's some of the Youtube channels that I'd take over any Discovery Channel show picked at random:

1.) Coldfusion: Coldfusion is actually on Steemit (I think this is his account, though it seems he has yet to make any posts), and has mentioned the platform in one of his awesome videos.

He usually does in-depth videos on tech, society, science, and the future. Recently he released a mind-blowing video on a clinical trial that's happening with stem cells injected into the brains of stroke patients. I almost wrote about that research. But I enjoyed it so much that I decided to tell other people about the channel, instead. Sometimes you've gotta spread the love, ya know?

2.) Kurzgesagt - In a Nutshell: This channel has high quality, well-produced and animated videos with great vocals. The topics usually center around science and philosophy, and the tone is more of an open-ended thinking session given the facts.

3.) PBS Spacetime - Basically a PBS science show as a Youtube channel. The videos are absolutely fantastic and deal with some pretty intense nitty-gritty physics without being so math-y that it loses the audience.

4.) Shut Up and Sit Down - Board games. This channel is all about board games. To be honest, if you're really interested you should probably skip their channel and head down to their site first since they post the videos there, anyway.

That's it, Steemians.

I'll say this. There is sort of a taboo feeling to posting things that lead outside of the platform. But I think our attitude should be more the opposite. You see, Steemit being a closed ecosystem might actually be hindering it's growth. We need links going outward to other valuable places on the internet so that the Steemit ecosystem can mesh with the wider web. Sooner or later people receiving traffic start wondering where it's coming from, and then, voila, over to Steemit they come. That's just an example, but I'm sure there are other ways that this approach brings value.

Links to valuable things outside the platform add value to it, not the opposite. We should stop thinking that if someone clicks a link that leads somewhere else they'll never come back to Steemit. That's not true. That could only be true if what they found wasn't valuable.

There's my rant on that subject.

Anyway, check out the above channels, they're good stuff.
