I'm watching a lot of YouTubes these days, I've stopped using Facebook for several reasons including the realization that real friendship is impossible on the platform. I got so sick of clicking on "Likes" and checking my "Likes" as it became obvious to me that Facebook is leading us all around like bulls with rings through our noses using us to maximize their advertising dollar, if Facebook is the future of social life on earth I'd rather not live here.
Now on to YouTube, WOW its like a Greek tragedy over there, people are complaining of unfair demonetizations and censorship all over the place. The LGBT community is copping it big time, Tranz people wanting to educate each other on the best ways to deal with tucking and taping though they never reveal their junk or boobs, are under constant attack by homophobic algorithms.
The only positive I can see coming from these stress-inducing situations on contemporary social media is that they become less attractive to creative minds. If you are fearful of censorship how can you really express yourself? To my mind censorship is something that one should take personal responsibility for, the nanny-state mentality of present media is doomed to go the same way as Yahoo, MySpace, and ICQ.
D.Tube, Steemit, and other more democratic networks are the future of intelligent, creative social media, places where self-moderation and unhindered creativity can flourish...
