Amazing Arum Lilies.

in zantedeschia •  7 years ago  (edited)

The Arum Lily ( Zantedeschia ) is a great plant for the Temperate to warm climate garden. This fast growing perennial is happier in a semi-shaded spot, out of the direct sun. Arum Lilies grow from Tubers, which are like bulbs. The clump grows each year and is able to be divided up so you can plant more around the garden. They look great planted with ferns and other shade loving plants. Just give them plenty of water and some fertilizer and they will be happy. The photo shows the common white form , but the Arum Lily comes in many colors these days, but the hybrids are slower growing and a smaller plant. Arums are used as a cut flower as well as an ornamental plant in the garden. They are native to South Africa, Swaziland, and some other African Countries. These plants are growing in Northern Sydney. Take care with this plant around dogs and cats, as for all Lilies , it's toxic for them. NEW1 137.JPG
