Hoplia Coerulea. Spark of Blue Fire

in zoology •  5 years ago  (edited)

This beetle is very similar in many respects to the lemon goplia. That's of a size a little bigger than it - up to one and a half centimeters. And the most important difference lies in the fact that the scales covering the top of his body, have an unearthly pearl-blue radiance, which is unlike any of what I previously knew among beetle camouflage. Perhaps, with its beauty, Blue Hopia may measure sword with the butterflies of the genus Morpho,
If Lemon Hoplia is a typical Eastern European species, then the blue one is a typical Western European beetle. The main part of its range is located in countries located along the coast of the Atlantic - such as France, Spain and Portugal...hercules.jpg
