Barry Slaughterhouse is an optimistic navigator from pretty the country. He leads a simple life. However, all that changes when Barry books a summer holiday to damp Falmouth.
At first Barry finds Falmouth very pretty. Then there's the mysterious, cold-blooded private detective, Alice Malkovich, who makes him feel frightened.
When Alice invites him on a chatting expedition, Barry begins to realise that Alice is a deeply hopeful and loving woman.
Barry knows in his heart that Alice is the woman for him. However, to secure his happiness, Barry must fend off the daring shopkeeper, Lauren MacDonald, who wants to get her claws into Alice.
Using her wicked glasses and a mutual love of bird watching, Barry sets out to snare Alice once and for all. But will the cold-blooded navigator return his affections?
