I really, REALLY want this gorgeous painting. How I found it will amuse you.

In the early morning hours I found some wonderful asshat posting a beautiful image.

Why does that make them an asshat?

Well, for one, they were claiming it was a photo of them and their girlfriend.

...it's not.

Not only is it not the poster and their girlfriend, it's not even a photograph. Nope, not even a filtered one.

For another, this painting is by Leonid Afremov called Melody of the Night. If you're not familiar with Leonid Afremov, you should really give his work a good look. It's beautiful. (Don't worry, I wasn't familiar with him, either.)

It turns out that a reproduction of Melody of the Night is on sale for hundreds less than what it usually goes for. If I had the funds necessary (without leaving ourselves vulnerable in case of an emergency) I would snatch it up in a heartbeat. Even though it's a picture of the night, it's bright and colorful and creative and just really amazing and surprisingly (for me, anyways) cheerful. Almost playful, even.

If anyone is interested in this painting, it's for sale on Leonid Afremov's website. You can also find much more of his work available there, in high quality images.

Just don't be that asshat and try to claim his work as your own or try to profit off his images. If I see it, I will flag it and report it to @steemcleaners.

Want to share something you love that doesn't belong to you? There's nothing wrong with that! Just decline payment, and don't be an asshat.

It's not the first Leonid Afremov's work that is being passed off as an original by a Steem.it posters.
Won't be the last.
I saw a similar work last week.

H.G.

That's a real shame.

I mean, I probably could've gotten away with monetizing this post, or powering it up 100%, since this post not only cites the proper source but is also pretty much free advertising for him and the story of how I found the artist I believe also makes this fall under fair use.

But I felt that was inappropriate.

This is the post of which I speak. I instantly recognized Leonids' work. I remember him from many years ago. I love his use of color.

He didn't even bother taking the watermark and signature off!

Whenever you see stuff like that, I recommend reporting it to @steemcleaners. Sometimes they even pay you for reporting plagiarizers and spammers.

But Leonid Afremov's work is just beautiful. Truly should be considered one of the greats.

That is really gorgeous!

Isn't it? I'd love to have this hanging in the living room!

Maybe some day....

Yeah. I had to control my twitchy order finger as I watched the sale clock counting down.

Couldn't have paid for it even if I'd tried to buy it. But that sale clock counting down just made me sit and stare and try not to whimper because I rely on beautiful and colorful and happy things to try to fight my severe depression.

I try to surround myself with bright colors, cute things, and happy things.

Damn is that artist's work amazing. Even buying the reproduction for $750, it's worth every penny

Keeping watch, I like it ! 👍

It's beautiful, isn't it?
