I received an offer from a leader of a baseball academy. He said, "I would like you to conduct a seminar on improving the motivation and physical fitness of my players."

This instructor is a very good baseball skills coach, but he believes that high physical performance is essential for elementary and junior high school students to succeed in baseball and become elite players, culminating in professional baseball players. He said he wanted to leave it to me, an expert.

It is true that there are many players who say "I am motivated" and "I will do my best" with their mouths, but when they actually start advanced and hard training, they cannot keep up at all. In other words, it is not only a matter of feelings, but physical fitness is certainly a limiting factor for survival in the baseball world.

Such training to improve physical fitness is "hard". So it can't go on for long, and it can't be done all at once.Training is not the same as practice.

Because they continue this hard training correctly and diligently, results will gradually emerge. You absolutely cannot fool yourself there.

In actual competitions, there are cases where physical fitness does not completely match up with winning or losing because of conditioning issues, but if you consider it on a physical fitness and athletic ability basis, you absolutely cannot compete with someone who has been training for a long time.

It is a matter of being smart enough to understand this simple fact accurately.
Belief to keep on training honestly and persistently.
The ability to take action to put it into practice
The desired "effect" can only be achieved when all three of the following are present.

この指導者は非常に優れた野球技術の指導者ですが、小学生や中学生が野球で成功してプロ野球選手を頂点とするエリートプレイヤーになるためには、フィジカルパフォーマンスの高さが欠かせないという信念を持たれています。それを専門家の私に任せたいと仰いました。

確かに、口先では「やる気があります」「頑張ります」と言ってはいても、実際に高度でハードな練習を始めると全然ついて来れない選手は少なくありません。つまり、気持ちの問題だけではなく、体力の問題が確実に野球界で生き抜くための制限因子として存在しています。

そうした体力を高めるためのトレーニングは「きつい」ものです。だから長く続けられないし、一度にまとめて行うことはできません。「練習とは異質のもの」なのです。

このキツいトレーニングを正しく、こつこつ続けるから、少しずつ成果が出てくるのです。絶対にそこは誤魔化せない。

実際の試合ではコンディショニングの問題があるので、体力と勝敗と完全に一致しないケースもありますが、体力や運動能力ベースで考えるなら絶対にトレーニングを続けてきた人間には敵いません。

・このシンプルな事実をどれだけ正確に理解できるかという賢さ
・愚直なまでにこつこつとトレーニングを続けるという信念
・実践する行動力
が3つ揃って初めて望むべき「効果」が得られるのです。
