Kathmandu,Nepal 'The history of Harivodhani Ekadashi'
In ancient times, a statue of Lord Vishnu was placed in the corners of the valley to show mercy to Lord Vishnu over the city of Kathmandu.Due to the glory of which, the grace of Vishnu is found to be a social belief that will be maintained in Kathmandu city from generation to generation.Vishnu is believed to be looking at Kathmandu as Ichangu Narayan in the west, Changu Narayan in the east, Bishkhun Narayan in the north and Shesh Narayan in the south.Earlier, on Harivodhani Ekadashi, devotees used to walk barefoot in the temple where the idol of Vishnu is found, from sunrise to sunset. It is said that the devotees used to reach all the four Narayans of the valley on foot in one day.Pilgrims who used to reach Charai Narayan on foot used to end their pilgrimage by reaching the rest of Narayan in Pharping. The rest means the end and the end point of Narayan philosophy is also said to be there. In this way, for the devotees who can visit all the four Narayans, an idol of the four Narayans has been placed around the valley in the Charnarayan temple next to the Krishna temple in Patan and arrangements have been made to
visit them easily. At that time people had a lot of time and time for devotion, so they used to stay in the temple premises during the day and it is customary to return in the evening. However, even now, a large crowd of devotees can be seen in these Narayans on the day of Haribodhini Ekadashi.Apart from this, there is a huge crowd of devotees visiting the temples and shrines of Lord Vishnu scattered all over Nepal.
