It's disheartening to me when I see the influential guys that I admired as a kid speak negatively about Bitcoin, but I also feel that their lack of vision is a huge opportunity for me. Knowing and understanding the potential in something, better than such an authoritative figure such as Bill Gates feels crazy. I am almost half his age, nowhere near his net worth, business experience, or even general success level, but I can clearly see that he doesn't understand Bitcoin.
Bitcoin is a revolutionary tool that is just starting its assault on how money currently works. I have to admit however, that I don't know for sure that I am going to like the new world where Bitcoin won - but with certainty, I know that it's inevitable.
I wonder if Bill Gates understands the utopia of Bitcoin; if he understands that this is not just money, not alternative to gold, but an alternative to everything. The world that has accepted Bitcoin as the global store of value is going to be different. I can compare Bitcoin to religion or communism. I don't like either, but it's as powerful a tool in gaining authority and wealth; just as communism once used to be and what religion still is.
When critics say it's not backed by anything, it just reassures us that they don't understand it. I'm not going to argue this by counterattacking US dollar as many crypto enthusiasts do, I'm just going to say that Bitcoin IS backed, it is by its 150Gb+ ledger, miners, and holders...and it means much more than a promissory note of a temporary government anywhere in the world.
didn't Gatres come out and say the "nobody can stop BTC" like 6 months ago (give or take a month or 2)?

Gates is likely helping push the price down so his companions can get into the game at a easy price.
I don't think one of the largest tech multinationals would pass up on the blockchain space.

Great post! Resteemed.
I like that Bitcoin has been seen as a store of wealth, and agree it is backed by physical assets and power.

Nothing is for sure, but bitcoin does seem to be undervalued at the moment. How high it goes will be fun to see. I don't think it is even close to where it will soon get. The next two years should be very interesting!

I´m sure that Bitcoin (BTC) is a powerfull tool that could be changing the wold. I wonder if people like buffet or gates know what BTC is. Alll of them know very well what is, and that is positive for all of us, media and work class.

On facebook just the other day, I wrote that these two were slating crypto to drive the value down, almost out of spite. Do they really not have any? Do they regret not getting on board in its infancy? I can kind of understand them hating 'new money' - they're old and will have their egos. They don't want to be overtaken on that bloody rich list, particularly by people who've earned a fortune in ways they don't respect.
And they got their wish. They've driven the value down (at least of steem, it would appear. I haven't looked at others). Will they get on board, now? And then change their bloody tune?
Buffet with these views, I can understand. Gates, I have to say I'm disappointed in.

Agreed - I think old entrepreneurs like him and Warren Buffet are becoming obsolete in this new space.
I think it's clear he hasn't bothered to learn about the technology and what it can do.
We do not know if Bitcoin will be THE cryptocurrency, but the fact that most of them can be used to send money anywhere is so powerful.

I think that gates and the other people like him fully understand Bitcoin and the concept and that’s why they are throwing their power and influence behind trying to not let it flourish because of the implications it has for the elite. What people like them say in public is absolutely not what they do in private.

Statements like these are a great reason to buy more crypto. If tenured insiders are saying to steer clear, that's a buy signal for me. When they start to talk it up again, it's time to take some profits to load up the powder stores for the next round.
I see a few possible motivations for these recent attacks:
People like Gates and Buffet are making statements like this to scare off weak hands and drop prices so they can scoop up their stacks at low rates before things really explode
They're bitter because crypto and blockchain both have the potentially to fundamentally change their industries, and they're getting too old to welcome change.
They've been asked by powerful parties in the banking cartel to help the cause and scare the masses off of crypto.
Regardless, the more they attack it, the more I buy.

Yea there has to be a reason he has changed his stance. Someone is in his ear it seems. These are not natural unbiased views of Gates in my opinion. He knows more about bitcoin than his friend Warren Buffet but maybe Warren has influenced his decision?
Either way this is changing the world and I don't think Bill Gates is going to sit back and watch it happen.
Thank you for sharing!

Maybe bitcoin will be the currency of the future, but I do not think it will be in the next few decades. The whole system depends on current currencies, everything is made to work with that. It would take a gradual transition but I do not see how.
