So you think they need some kind of steering committee? How do you think that would be best organized and by who?
It does seem like the police let the protesters do illegal things, "blow off steam" to a lesser degree than in Baltamore. Or, how they let the Carbodale Halloween party get out of control so the city and university could have a reason to clamp down on it. It would be interesting to see what the police departments internal strategy is and what their ideal outcome is.
Local medias agenda is stir the pot to get viewers to get ad sales. I'm sure the editors have their own opinions and try to push them when they can but violence and chaos creates anger and fear which sells ads.
I would recommend dialogue and workshops for those interested in participating. As with most situations, these will be lead by folks with agendas that may or may not align with the integral aspects of Black Lives Matter. Media is definitely a double edged sword that is able to illuminate problems and racism but is also going to capitalize on any incident by framing the story for their own demographic.
