Over the past year, at least some of the hacked funds were recovered by many of the DeFi protocols under attack, thanks to negotiated bounty offers.

Most notably, hacker of Euler Finance returned 100% of the nearly $200 million in hacked funds.

Schwed said maybe the hackers felt they had found a security hole and kept some of the money as a reward.
