I'm going to skip 'What I learnt last week' today. It's not like anybody is keeping track. But i've been really busy with curation and generally out of sorts.

The SteemSTEM team went on the once-in-a-lifetime trip to the CERN collider, a huge particle smasher built to unlock the secrets of the Universe in Switzerland/France.

I've actually been to the nearby museum before but you need proper booking and timing (once a year maybe) to get a tour inside, which wasn't planned when I visited. So I'm pretty disappointed that I live in China, and even more disappointed that I might actually be back in England come May - close enough to go! But I'm super happy for everybody who managed to go and I can't wait to see the upcoming posts about the experience.

But yeah I've been left behind to vote all the SteemSTEM posts the last 2 or 3 days and it has taken a lot of time outta my day. Here's some perspective:

Here's the browser tabs for the first wave of posts I had to curate yesterday. This is from the main curation channel (thanks @zest for that bombardment!)

The curators (Thank f**** they're still around) find and read good content, check for plagiarism, originality etc and then submit them. I then read them all again and double check these things before giving it the go ahead and giving a SteemSTEM and Curie upvote.

Some users are 'white listed', trusted users that have earned their position to almost guarantee an upvote without much concern for plagiarism so they're generally quicker to check (you learn their writing style, for example). Others are 'grey listed' and they take ages because they sometimes rile up suspicion, forcing me/us to dig deeper into possible translation and so forth.

After this, I went into the sub-communities ; groups of SteemSTEM covering different nations including Italian, German, Spanish, Nigerian, Yugoslavian and French. We have a couple of curators in each one to check these things, and our main management team speak some of those languages, too. After the greenlight, here's the result:

By this point it was approaching 4PM so I took a break and did my own post. our VP runs low if we do too much so some time is needed to recharge, and people need to write anyway.

Later on that day, I get a second wave:

That's 73 posts!!!

Yesterday I had to read and check 73 fricking posts! In fact, more.

I managed to find 2 users translating their work: Plagiarism.

In this case, the users made my life a little easier, since they slipped up a tiny bit (shall remain unnamed) which gave me something to start my investigation on, and the rest is history.

All in a day's work...

So yeah, I've been doing the same work today so far but the others will finally be back. Either way I'm going to give my weekly post a break, but I'll post something else later anyway. I've been meaning to do my next music post but never found a day to slip it in so maybe that's something I'll do later. shrug, see you all later!
