Lately I've been thinking a lot about how to blog in a way that people will really engage with my blog. I want people to leave comments. 

But I also want them to reply to my replies, as well as other people's comments and their replies. 

So I have noticed that this key trend or idea on Steemit. Let's say you just started and you are a minnow (someone who is just starting out with blogging on Steemit and you don't have a high reputation score / many followers / much steem). 

You gotta try and get a whale (someone who does have high reputation score / many followers / much steem) to upvote your posts. Here's a humpback whale by the way...

Whale upvotes are worth a lot of money. I have also heard that some whales sell their upvotes but I don't know if that is true or allowed.  

Actually now that I think of it again, I don't know why it shouldn't be allowed!



Anyway, I think some people try to make money on Steemit using shortcuts. So what they might try to do is to keep checking what are the highest rating tags, or try to mention a whale in their blog (like I am doing here). 

Actually now that I think of it, that is what I am doing, especially with this particular post.  Not that tags are not important. This cow (I think it is a cow - yes it is a black and white cow) even has tags in his/her ears. Cows can teach us lots of things.



But the best way to do it, and I think I read this in one of Stellabelle's posts, is too just have fun and blog. I think that strategy might work because that way you are probably more likely to stick at it for a while, which is an important factor in making money as far as I know. 

Also, your audience are more likely to enjoy your posts and look out for more, or follow you, because they can identify with you. Stellabelle may have an audience this size:
