Maya is meditating.
This is where I want to try meditate :)
This experiment was inspired by my friend. During one of our conversations, he said that.... he wanted to sit and do nothing, but he did not succeed.
He intrigued me because I don't remember when I did nothing last time. Usually, when I have a moment of time, I don't sit idly but do something. Of course, this is not always a productive activity. Nevertheless, even in situations where I am waiting for someone or something, I have an iPhone with a list of articles for reading, podcasts or audiobooks to listen to. The topic hit a fertile ground because the end of the year was quite tiring for me. I had a lot on my head and the number of things (personal and professional) made me feel like a hamster in a running wheel. Unfortunately, this situation is not conducive to my creativity. Whatever else affected the number of articles on the Productivity. I thought I needed to gather thoughts and calm down a little.
30 days challenge: Meditation
I will be writing in the future, although I have already had some' meetings' behind me.
What is this experiment about: What is it all about?
For 30 days I will spend 25 minutes every day (i. e. one Pomodoro) on meditation. During this time I will try to relax as much as possible, focus on breathing and not to move (please explain below).
I will present the results in a month's time.
NOTE: You can meditate in different ways and for different reasons. For me, this is a purely practical "exercise" without any spiritual-religious colouring.
Why did I choose this form of meditation? Someone once recommended me the book "Mindfulness in plain English" and instead of spending time looking for alternatives, I just decided to use this form of meditation.
It consists in a combination of concentration (focus) and mindfulness. On the one hand, we focus on breathing and on the other hand we observe our thoughts. I know that this description is insufficient (and perhaps wrong), but it is very difficult for me to explain something I am just learning.
If you have never meditated before (and this was the case in my case), then it is an hour or two hours to sit in one place for abstractness. On the other hand, if you don't specify the time you want to spend on meditation, you can plant yourself or be impatient. It is suggested to start with a seat for 20-30 minutes.
Let us now move on to this seat. I read some very interesting tips on the position and attitude during meditation. The first association that I have with meditation is a person sitting in the position "lotus flower". I tried and I have to admit that it is more comfortable than sitting "in Turkish", because it is easier to maintain a straight spine. However, you need to have relatively stretched lower muscles to sit down in the lotus position. There are many meditation positions. You can even meditate while sitting on a chair or lying down (the risk of snow here is high).
Appropriate clothing and seat cushion. I don't want to be wise again, but I think it's worth mentioning a loose dress that won't be thrown in and cause leg suffering. The same applies to the seat cushion. I am sitting on a carimage, where I rest my knees and pillow on which the rest of my seat rests:)
My expectations
I don't have any definite expectations and, as I found out from the book, it's quite a good approach. I decided to meditate with pure curiosity. I want to see what the effects will be and whether meditation will affect my life. It is said that this can be used to stress away, to improve concentration and thus also to increase efficiency. We will see.
Is it possible to always be in state of meditation?
