"Cars are Like Breast Implants for Men." πŸ€”

It's Book Review time! πŸ˜€

That quote above, along with several others, are here for you! All of which were found in this book below, which I DO recommend reading.

Authored by both Kevin Hart and Neil Strauss, "I Can't Make This Up" hit the #1 spot on the New York Times Bestseller list last summer.

This book is like a rocket ship:

Starts off slowly, then gains momentum and becomes a book that is difficult to put down once you're 1/3rd of the way in.

Very enjoyable, very instructive, and offered one of the best teachable lessons for anyone interested in trying stand-up comedy:

If you can tell true stories about your life and make them funny as hell, that's how you gain a following.

If that helps you here on Steemit, awesome!

Consistent, quality content is what matters here. If you can do that and make it funny, you've got a winning combination πŸ‘.

Here's a photo I took of Neil when we were at an airport in Arizona having lunch last summer. Kevin Hart had just texted him that their book had hit the #1 spot on the New York Times Bestseller list:

Quotes from the book that made me laugh, inspired me, or made me want to shave a cat:

"I learned that trusting your gut in situations where your logic contradicts you is terrifying - especially the first time you do it - but it's always the right move."

The book I'm writing has expanded on this idea to include the 'psychic bargaining' we must wrestle with, within ourselves, when that decision we have to make is further clouded by ideology; particularly ones we have unwittingly embraced for our entire lives.

Trust your gut.
It knows better than your conscious awareness.

"Do I have so little self-respect that I'm allowing someone to talk to me like this?"

The only reason anyone can ever disrespect you with their speech pattern is because you allow it.

  • Do you permit this and then say "It's ok," both to them AND yourself?

  • Do you yell back at them (even though you know it's not nice because you don't like it?)

  • Do you fail to have a discussion with them afterwards, explaining why their behavior is absolutely unacceptable?

I'm guilty of the first and the last. I don't yell anymore because I yelled at an ex-girlfriend over a decade ago and the guilt of yelling at her provided me with the lesson of never, ever doing it again.

I also learned that it's the truths in life that make people cry, and that speaking the truth in an even, measured tone will produce just as many tears.

"All human beings are equal and worthy of respect, understanding, and consideration."

Absolutely.

Treat others fairly. Be nice.
Practice kindness.

Always be truthful,
because suffering in life is guaranteed;

The choice is yours:

  • You can suffer by the seeds sown from the lies you tell yourself and others, and feel the pain magnified (but put off for a little while),

  • Or you can suffer from the consequences of the truth. The result is inner strength, learning, and personal growth. This is suffering for good purpose and has a positive end result.

Have an amazing day Steemit, and remember, if you're reading this, YOU are worthy of that quote above.

Thanks @anyx 🧐
I'll behave πŸ˜‰
See you at Steemfest 3! πŸ€—

Well said. Not that we have control over what someone says or does but we do have control over our response.

Absolutely Lydon!
I'll have a chat with the person, paying attention to what they say regarding their yelling.
Mind you, I haven't been yelled at in years...
If the person (assuming they're an adult) repeats the pattern, I ex-communicate them from my life.

When the worst harm you do to someone is not be in their life, that's when you know you're doing things right.

Happy Easter brother 🐣

I was just having a really shitty day with someone that had been making me feel uncomfortable for a while and I really needed to hear.

"Trust your gut.
It knows better than your conscious awareness.

"Do I have so little self-respect that I'm allowing someone to talk to me like this?"

and the bit about

If you can tell true stories about your life and make them funny as hell, that's how you gain a following.

That has always been my oppinion on great comedy.

"I learned that trusting your gut in situations where your logic contradicts you is terrifying - especially the first time you do it - but it's always the right move."

Agree, always trust your gut! I can imagine how happy was Neil when he got Kevin Hart’s text.
I agree not to yell at anyone, sometimes people have to learn their lesson as I did as well.
I wish you the best in writing ✍️ your book πŸ“– .
Great post @scan0017😘!

I have an issue with this yelling problem. I usually talk in a tone that people think disrespectful or think that I'm starting a fight. But that's not really the case. I'm a very nice guy πŸ˜…..
I just put my point across in a way that people sometimes feel intimidating

So long as you achieve your intended objective without blowback, mission accomplished.

If you have identified that people misread your tone, you may be served by consciously attempting to change it, if only for a week.

You may want to try this, for experimental reasons, then see what benefits you might receive as a result.

There might be some unrealized benefits in your life if you want to try this...

superhero movies, extreme movies, epic films, scary movies. The comedy main show is really good.
I wish you the best in writing ✍️ your book πŸ“–. Good post @scan0017 😘
