Why a minnow 🐠 shall not vote himself the first days - Minnow Mentoring Project - DAY 13 of 30 day writing challenge

Hello SteemItzens,

This post is for the minnows 🐠 around, me included. Last nights have been good to me as ideas poured in. Some new lesson about SteemIt.

As a lot of people joined lately, most don’t know or don’t understand SteemIt. I can say I’m guilty 😊as every day, some new information or how to appear on the screen. Yesterday, @elliotjgardner posted here about the @gentlebot. I’ve seen some debates the other day about on to or not to self upvote.

As a minnow, your vote values none to zero, so I would suggest to not upvote your post. How not to vote as it usually a standard selected option:

Just click on the marked spot.

Voilà, there you have it.

if you really want to vote on your own post, then do it in day 5 or 6. Why? Because 25% of the value of the post go to curators. So if you vote some bigger acounts will not even look at it, as the value of the curation will be low, so the value of your post will be low. Can you spot this vicious cicle? So just wait and be surprised to what happens.

Just think about it, that 75% of something is better then 75%+ of nothing or to have a better view, 75% of a melon is more then 100% of a grape.

Also avoid the first days the wonderful services of @randowhale, @minnowsupport and the others. This guys are doing a great job and will be described each in other post, but wait with using them to give normal users an advantage to spot you.😋

This is one strategy that I would recommend for a natural growth

Authors get paid when people like you upvote their post.

Sort Order:

As we all know a new user will try everything like a baby. If you say "don't do that", that will be the first thing he will do. :D

For all minnows like us, we should test everything on our skin.

I think it is a strategy worth trying. Of course I will upvote and do the bot boost, but only later on.

The problem is even greater when your vote worth is higher. There is a lot of temptation to upvote your own stuff.

I have 2 rules:

  1. Never upvote my own comments (anymore).
  2. Always upvote my own posts - people tend to vote on posts with other votes.

That being said, I think Steemit should remove rewards on self upvoting. If people are more incentivised to upvote their own stuff than other stuff, then the platform is FU%#D!

I think if you have a decent vote power the strategy should change, like from dolphin level at least. but as minnow, when you have 0,02 rewards and 10 votes mostly the bigger accounts will not touch you.
