What Is Your Main Reason For Staying On Steemit?

This is today's question in @dragosroua 's 30 day writing challenge. I haven't taken on the full challenge, but I really like this question. Let' s start with some context :)

My main reason started to coagulate while I was doing some research for a post and stumbled upon the word "prosocial". This word left me very confused because I immediately resonated with it as if we were old friends, but it seemed that it was the first time I saw it. After speding a few minutes wodering why it seemed so alien, I asked google about it and realised that this is not a word generally used. Moreover it's also a part of sociology that is not well reserched. This left me with a bad taste, because we spent a lot of time as a human race focusing on antisocial behavior, but the prosocial behavior, which bindes people together, was almost ignored.

So I decided its time to start a discussion around this concept, so I launched a proposal to build @steemromania as a prosocial community, which can be accesed here.

But, the moment when my main reason was cemented, was when I observed an alignment. After speding some time here and figuring out that the way to go on this platform is to build relationships, I observed someting that fascinated me. The steem ecosystem is a context in which the prosocial behavior that creates relationships is perfectly aligned with the maximization of income. In other words, it's the only place I know where being really nice and bringing real value to others is the way to maximize profit. In a world where profit is maximized by antisocial behavior, we have a little corner where prosocial behaviour brings real value.

I am aware that there are bidbots and reward pool rapes, which to my mind constitue some sort of antisocial behavior. But all the wonderfull projects like @utopian-io, @steemsteam, @tribesteemup and a lot of communities show me that the prosocial approach has something to say in this digital ecosystem.

So, this is my main reason for staying on steemit, the fact that prosocial behavior can generate real monetary gains. And this is a very fertile ground for building wonderful projects that can have a real impact in the world. A simplified example would be a sistem like utopian, but instead of rewarding contributions to open source projects, it would rewars prosocial contributions to society.

I really hope that this is a direction that the @steemromania community will adopt.

I stay on steem to read down to earth posts like this that make me think about human behaviour and the advantages of the steem ecosystem without the exaggerated hype and click-bait title :)

I really appreciate the kind words. I have no idea how people relate to my content, yet. I don't even know if it all makes sense, but time will make things right. Time and a lot of work :)
