The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. Psalm23:1
A powerful declaration on every child of God! In order to understand the implication of this scripture, we need to know who a Shepherd is and his role in the life of the sheep. A Shepherd is a personality whose responsibility is to provide food, shelter and security to the sheep.
This shows, without controversy, that the whole wellbeing of the sheep depends on the ability, experience and track record of the Shepherd.
As the sheep of God's pasture, we are God's responsibility. The Almighty God is in charge of our welfare on every side. Thus, in our daily activities, He's the one that provides, shelters and secures us. This means, we are depending on Him, irrespective of our expertise in handling the affairs of life. He's still the Shepherd, hallelujah!
It's this dependence on Him that brings cessation of lack, frustration and insecurity in our lives. Our dependence on God ensures our deliverance from wants, for one whose needs are made does not go about in wants.
Are you totally depending on God? Depending on human abilities, efforts, qualification or connection leads to disappointment and frustration. Jesus is the answer at all times. Be hardworking, but depend on God for your needs.
Let's pray together
Heavenly Father, thank you for being our Shepherd. We come to you, depending on you for all we need. Grant us our desires according to your will, in Jesus name. Amen.
